Chris Jones, M.A, LAC-Clinical Mental Health Intern

HI I’M CHRIS

and I am a California native, but I have spent most of my adolescent and adult years in Mississippi. I have clinical experience in applied behavioral analysis, working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder. I also have over two years of experience working in the field of addiction and continue to further my experience working with children, adolescents and adults in the field of mental health. I have a passion for helping people make sense and heal from past trauma and severe life stressors. My goal as a therapist is to help you create healthy perceptions of yourself and make meaningful changes that create your quality world.

Theoretical Orientation

My theoretical approach to therapy is one that is eclectic, consisting of cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and reality therapy. All humans seek to fulfill their need for safety, belongingness, power, freedom, and joy which shapes their quality world. Past negative experiences could shape maladaptive ways of dealing with stressors. I work collaboratively with my clients to evaluate ineffective thoughts and behaviors, conceptualize their quality world, and implement practical solutions to their problems.

Educational Information

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in psychology and addiction studies from Northwestern State University and a Master of Science in Addiction Studies from Capella University. I am currently 3 credits away from earning my Master of Science in Clinical mental Health Counseling to become a PLPC.
